Run Reports

Run 1437

Venue:15 Myrtle St, Newtown/Basin Reserve (DT's place)
Date:24 March 2003
Hare:High Heels
Scribe:High Heels

Another great evening for a run. This was set in very quick time as evidenced by the 45 minutes time for the FRBees. I can't really tell you how the run went as I set it.

The feedback overall was good. The guys that did it seemed to enjoy it - the only negative comment coming from Sourpuss who reckoned it wasn't long enough. It was suggested that he do the run again.

I ran my car back home so I could enjoy a few beers. On the way back through Newtown and nowhere near the run I had set, I saw Bridgend, Ashley and PussyPuppy walking back to the On-On. Pussypuppy was awarded a down down for leading the more experienced hashers astray.

There were more than a few guys that didn't do the run, this information coming later in the evening when Sproggy was trying to deflect any wrong-doing from himself after receiving a text message from Poohole. Anyway the hashers who went to Tramways were Sproggy, Bubbles, the General, Mildew and Viskis. I'd just like to say that any of the above hashers who show up on Monday will be fined heavily.

The down downs were brilliantly executed by myself, Evil and the Ayatollah. Due to some rotten luck I ended up doing 3 down downs including the Prick. I'm not sure how K9 came to award it to me, but there you go.

On the runs up to the Erections, awards are becoming more focussed on various hashers as they burble on while down downs are being handed out.

Sproggy did say my down down speed has improved slightly - thanks - but that doesn't mean I need more of them.

Since America has invaded Iraq no-one in the West has seen Saddam. After some keen observation on Monday nights I now know why this is. He is living in Wellington and goes by the name of Hood. I checked my English/Iraqi dictionary and Hussein in English is Hood. So be warned - apparently Hood is not a very nice person so when he speaks to you it is advisable not to disagree with him.

On-On,

Run 1438

Venue:Korokoro Gateway, Petone Foreshore
Date:31 March 2003
Hare:Hood
Scribe:General

A modest horde assembled on the Petone foreshore for Hood's "who said its winter?" run. Immediate first check in the carpark then across to someplace near the Petone station.

Trail headed onto another check the start of Korokoro stream - visions of Belmont Trig via Baked Beans Track by torchlight. That stuffed K9 and a few others who took the straight ahead option for a while. This was a short backcheck through a steep bit of bush emerging on Korokoro road near the top of the hill. Long haul down Korokoro Road to find the hare lurking near the lights at the bottom - with trailer, keg, piss-stop beers, trying to tell the pack this was not the piss-stop. At least not yet. Fat chance.

A few attempted to stick to the trail of righteousness. TC headed straight back up the way he'd come. Just 'cos Hood has used that track on every run he has ever set ever, it did not follow this time. Trail was found on up London Road for the resolute few. The flour was pretty much blown away but Townplanner found more trail along Stanhope Road. A "PS" sign had mysteriously appeared outside #13 which turned out to be the residence of the long lost Dogfish and the arrow pointed upstairs to the mulled wine a la dogfish. He'd made a shit load of the stuff in expectation of a mighty throng - so the intrepid few put away about 3 each then headed on to Percy's reserve. A bit of blundering in the gloom revealed trail following the Hutt Road more or less back to the piss-stop. Nice that some piss was left for the piss-stop.

Having decided the place was sheltered, well-lit and the piss was in situ, the piss-stop mutated into the On-On. Simple.

Down downs were awarded - first acknowledging Hood's fine effort as Hare - the truism of not bringing the trail within sight of the chariots being borne out.

The "Black Betty" went to Dogfish - suitable as a new boot award. Certain reprobates got chastised for troughing McVomit burgers in the Ayatollah's presence and Highheels got at least 3 down-downs. Pick on Highheels while you still can.

Oggy, Sproggy and other usual suspects copped it for whatever reasons. Ashley managed to dodge the down-down he richly deserved for his weekend's winnings. And the PoW went to the General - appropriate for sure. Can't recall why.

Down by the Riverside

On a cold bleak drizzly evening- down by the riverside
I met a bunch of bright-eyed blokes- down by the riverside
I asked which way the trail went, and was told- down by the riverside
but watch out for the slippery rocks- down by the riverside

We followed trail- to the riverside
And there we lost our leader- down by the riverside
Down by the riverside, under the Belmont Bridge.
So back through Belmont Domain we went- down by the riverside
But follow the trail, down by the riverside,
across the slippery rocks, down by the riverside,
we did not go.

Instead we shortcut to the overbridge and up into the heights of Belmont we did run- away from the riverside
After Gurney Road, Terrys, Sunshine and Bedford we found ourselves on Major Drive, heading to the riverside
A check into Speedy's fooled us not. We knew the way- to the riverside
But one last loop, beside the motorway, then up and back down to the underpass we went, to our barbeque site and waiting keg,
Down by the R I v- e r- s I d e.

The ensuring evening saw

For a lousy night, weatherwise, we had a forgettable run, especially for the Ayatollah, but a very convivial after match. Down by the riverside.

Q. Did Oggy contrive to have all his mates outside the exit of a certain meeting Hall, where, towards the end of the evening a certain lady (Val by name) emerged and on discovering this was the Hash, asked for one named Doug Shepherd whom she remembered bunking with in bygone days?
