Run Reports

Run 1402

Venue:Printforme, Cuba St, Petone
Date:22 July 2002
Hare:Broken Arse
Scribe:River Rat

The hashers assembled at Broken Arse's Printforme (this is actually an item associated with the printing process but it must be outdated as I couldn't find it in my dictionaries - so we will all have to remain ignorant. Broken Arse will probably know.)

The run went north along Cuba St then through the Petone Rec, along Adelaide St to the east with the pack now well spread out. It turned north and went along the Te Mome Stream to the croquet club. Just to the north of here was the first Wellington settlement, Britannia, which lasted for about two months before a flood made things too unpleasant for the settlers and they buggered off to the other side of the harbour (this was before the 1855 earthquake raised the whole area a couple of metres).

Anyway - the run then made a bee-line west to return to Printforme and a large numbers of SCBs and non-runners even! These had already scoffed the fish which Numbnuts and Broken Arse had probably caught and were well into the snarlers being attended to by Numbnuts.

Knob Roy and Black Goldfish were given the new boot award, Flies was fined for something which I can no longer remember and Hood was fined for being the dog ambassador. However P.O.W. went to hare Numbnuts. Hashers studied biology in magazines and made helpful comparisons and held interesting conversations before departing.

A cutting run report

Well it's a plucking long time since I have had to do this. Just realize after reading the trash now that I was even up for it so you must forgive my last of memory on some of last Mondays night details.

On arrival thought we were at the wrong place. Horror of horrors some bar-Sid flu the bloody DC3 away!!! The character and atmosphere are now as exciting to being stuck in an igloo. Well the weather and cutting wind were like being in Alaska. Maybe that is why they changed the name of the pub to the cutting (wind)?

I asked as you do what happened to the DC3, and the last owner went belly up and the new owner decided on cutting the place up. Must have been a good move as there we certainly less people that the last time we run from that venue!

As with all isolated run locations we started late again, which is a good thing we driving all the way in from Boons place.

The trail started with some desperate interlocked loops close to the pub, before heading through the cutting toward Miramar Wharf. What this TC short cutting before the first check (again)! TC the rest of the pack headed up Shelly Bay Road!

Then up some bloody steps towards TC (Bastard). I think he must leave work early and spy on the hare's setting the runs?

The Hare made good use of the Maupuia Road hill area with good check and loops that helped pull the pack together. We were running around like lost sheep at times but without the warm wool coats. Fuck that wind was cutting!

We almost made it to young Johna's palace. Almost expect him to be standing outside handing out hot mulled wine? We could have even given him some tips on how to play rugby, but needless say the hare does not know him after all!

After a long check and a stint through a school we found the pack was mostly together again as we attempted to mountain slide up some water logged slippery bank then down a road to the rugby club rooms for a well deserved piss stop.

The rugby connection became more apparent as we stood outside under a veranda just out of the bloody cutting wind! No rugby official or invitation to go into the warn clubrooms.

I decided that the wind was just too bloody cold and cutting and much to the Hare's disgust (and inability to give a good reason to follow the real trail) walked back to the cutting with the walkers. It was closest thing I could imagine to being at the south pole with a wind chill factor of at least -20 fish length °C. The short-cutters braved the extreme conditions and was lead back by Duck, Bridgened, (feeling the full force of the Cutting head on southerly Wind in shorts), plus Hood etc.

Just before hitting the shops TC ran past at the front of the pack. Short-cutting the final couple of blocks (much the same as the front of the run) followed by K9 who must have been less effected by the cutting wind doing at least 2 time the number of strides of TC.

As we staggered in the extreme cutting condition to the Cutting Pub hash men were appearing from all directions. The Hare has finally learnt how to set a good run even under extreme weather conditions.

Of course Badger (unusual for him) and other lost lazy bastard's had found that conditions just to extreme and missed the trail, and piss stop and full effects of the cutting wind.

The Cutting Pub shouted the piss for the down downs. We had two new boots (Look in the book for there titles) The prick went to ? and the bubbles award to ?. Boon spent all his money in the casino once again. There was plenty of hot tucker (the only thing hot about the whole run!) to go around twice!

Well Sourpuss you are finally getting it!!! Well done!!! However I think that we must have covered the whole of Miramar now?
